I teach dietitians how to succeed in private practice and become badass entrepreneurs
SO many RDs dream of starting their own private practice, but are too overwhelmed by the process to get started.
When I started my dietetic internship, I knew what I wanted: to run my own private-practice. I didn't want to work for someone else in a clinical setting. I wanted to run the show, setting my own schedule on my own terms. My experience in the clinical setting during my internship only reinforced my desire to want MORE than a traditional RD role.
Book a consultationAt the start of my RD career, I was working in nursing homes as a long-term care dietitian. I figured it was a "safe" job.
While it was important work, I wasn't passionate about it whatsoever. The worst was when the owner of one of the nursing homes came in, and yelled at all of the employees (including myself) for three hours, because we weren't making HIM enough money.
Plus, this was when the COVID pandemic started, so I was putting myself at risk on a daily basis, without hazard pay. This isn't uncommon — RDs in clinical and long-term care setting are often underpaid and overworked. I knew I deserved more.
Book a consultationI didn't become a dietitian to write chart notes all day. I didn't want to continue getting yelled at by nursing home owners because I wasn't making them enough money.
I wanted to run a private practice to help people improve their health, fitness, and their body image. Growing up, I struggled with my weight and body image, later became very passionate about fitness and powerlifting. I wanted to help others so they didn't have to go through what I went through. I wanted to help people PREVENT long-term health problems, rather than working in long term care, writing chart notes on people who were already sick.

Book a consultationAbout six months into working my long-term care job, I met my mentor and friend Amy Plano. She taught me how to get started in private practice. She gave me the first glimpse of what my career COULD look like. That I could make a six-figure income while working hours of MY choosing, working for MYSELF.
The idea of running my own private-practice full-time was scary. It seemed impossible and overwhelming. BUT I was also unhappy getting paid shit money to work for someone else.
Book a consultationI was not an overnight success. I didn't wake up one day, decide to take insurance in my private practice and suddenly start making over $10,000 in monthly revenue. There were many trials and tribulations along the way. Plenty of overwhelming moments — be it the myriad of forms to fill out, navigating accepting health insurance, working with difficult clients, or or dealing with the deep-rooted imposter syndrome that told me I wasn't "enough".
Brick walls are inevitable. But on a deep, visceral level, I always knew that one day I'd make it — making the money I deserve while doing what I love.
I'm fortunate enough to be in that position today.
